Campaign News
Below you will find the latest news and rumours circulating the Towers of the Kern Valley Alliance. Any character may be assumed to have received this information from their guild or through conversing with other adventurers.
A Message from the King
King Paullandiss is delighted to announce a great boon that the Kern Valley has received. Anubis, an Aspect of Death, has revealed a mechanism that has made it possible for some of our fallen to be able to be returned to us.
When an adventurer falls for the final time, their spirit travels on to its final resting place, known as "the Beyond". Some of the Fallen travel immediately to the Beyond and rejoin the Life Sphere, whilst others travel through various planes or states of existence before reaching the Beyond (how long this takes and where people go, depends upon their beliefs). A large number of Fallen reside at a place called the Hall of Heroes, until they feel the time is right to move into the Beyond.
It is now possible for some of our Fallen people to be able to be returned to life rather than pass into the Beyond. Once an individual travels to the Beyond, there is no return. In order for one of our Fallen to be able to be returned, their spirit needs to be located and spoken with; they then have a choice:
- They can choose to return to life as they were immediately prior to their death, with all of their skills and abilities, but with no spirit strength.
- They can choose to be "reborn" in a new body, with all of their memories intact, but none of their previous skills and abilities.
- Or they can choose to enter the Beyond.
It should be noted that the Fallen can only return to life if they wish to, if somebody still alive wishes them to return and their story is taken and recorded into the Book of Anubis. The Fallen cannot be forcibly returned, or return without the co-operation of a living Kern Valley member. It should also be noted that the Kern Valley is the only Tower upon Orin Rakatha that is able to do this.
This is indeed momentus news and the King has directed that all of our efforts be aimed at locating our Fallen and returning those that wish to do so, whilst also respecting those that choose to enter the Beyond.
A Message from Duke Hanrow and Lady Mortifera
It has been discovered that all members of the Kern Valley have been cursed by Anubis, an Aspect of Death, to forget our Dead. Whilst it was previously believed that the Kern Valley had successfully not permanently lost any of our members, it has since been discovered that this is not the case. Several adventuring groups are perfoming tasks, sponsored by Duke Hanrow and Lady Mortifera, and are travelling to numerous places in an attempt to recover our "lost" dead.
One adventuring group, led by Ezekiel Bramble, has been particularly successful in this endeavour and are personally congratulated for their efforts by Duke Hanrow. This group confronted Anubis and not only managed to find out a complete list of names of our "lost" but also managed to arrange for several of them to be returned to us.
Listed below are the names of our "lost" dead; all of our efforts are now being directed at recovering and recording the stories of their lives and deeds. Any names struck through have already been encountered.

A Message from The Humacti Sect
Gelithian Nomass is pleased to announce that Luke Montoya has been returned to the Kern Valley. His spirit was tragically lost several years ago whilst travelling with the KFW, but has now been returned to us. They are keen to welcome Luke back to their fold, but out of respect for Luke they have agreed to let him decide the nature and timing of his return to the Humacti Sect.
It has been recently discovered that members of a Necromantic Cult have joined forces with the Dymwan. These people call themselves the Follows of Agoth, an Undead Realm Lord who seeks to expand his realm onto other planes of existence. Followers of Agoth can be identified by their colours; they generally wear white robes, with a blue tabard and a red hood and have an "A" symbol upon their heads. They are normally human and members of the Catacombs of Aserhai. Sometimes they are accompanied by powerful Undead called Soulreavers. Any groups encountering these individuals are requested to submit a report of their encounter to the Humacti Sect.
The Fallen
Below is a list of the Fallen who have been encountered and what has happened to them.
Gutrot; he wishes to return to Wolfhold, but something needs to be done before this can happen - a group has been tasked to ensure this happens.
Itam; he has decided to move to the Beyond.
Stalker; he has decided to move to the Beyond.
Luke Montoya; he has been returned to the Kern Valley.
Belam de Traverney; he has returned but not to the Kern Valley.
Wilf; he has decided to move to the Beyond.
Tales should be told of those who decide to travel to the Beyond and their deeds and exploits venerated..
