To everyone coming on this weekend's event, I don't know if you've looked at the weather recently but it is really unacceptably hot. You may have read that even the SAS have really struggled with it (RIP).

With this in mind players if could you all try and bring an IC bag for carrying water, if you have space to bring two then that would be really appreciated as some people may not have an IC bag/only have a tiny one. SFB's old trick of freezing several bottles before the event would probably be wise if you can. The crew will be carrying a bag of water too at all times so don't hesistate to ask one of us in time out/ ask Sky whenever to get you some if you run out.

Trying to avoid sounding too mothering, but don't forget sun cream, watch out for heat stroke, etc etc.

See you all on Thursday

I shall stick a spare IC bag in my car later in case anyone needs one. I shall also bring a spare bottle pouch for someones belt.

Funnily enough I was planning on freezing a load of water too. . although principally to keep the cider cold in the coolboxes

I'll bring an extra bag as well. Though it's only a small one, it should carry a few cans/bottles if anyone needs it.

Incidentally, ice has a greater volume than the equivalent amount of water (it's why it floats), so freezing it isn't the best way to carry it. That said, suggesting that you don't bring frozen water would be breaking a long-held HQ tradition, so I won't.

Carrying frozen water is silly. . carrying the chilled cider it has facilitated is marvelous

That's decided then!

BTW, I'll be wearing Garret's Summer costume, which I've just made up... I don't think I can face the dunes in rather-more-form-hugging-than-it-used-to-be Black Leather.

Is that cheating?

I'm sure, like all style conscious adventurers, Garret has a summer wardrobe.

And besides, he's a Dex-monkey so you an wear what you like. I'm sure Rob will be playing as Reknown in shorts and t-shirt.

Also worth checking for Wasps nests in all buildings (inc yurts) and encounter areas. Last week's Fest should have eradicated some but they'll just rehouse themselves over time.

A few bottles of wasp powder may not go amiss.

There are also hornets.

Enjoy!

Good job Craig's not down to play, he probably still has nightmares from that "encounter"...

I was just sorting my kit out now and though shorts sounds good I am looking at light trousers and seeing if I have a short sleeved top

Renown is for this weather, Verrick, Ivak or Lan would be less pleasant.

I'll bring a water bag.
