Congratulations and Thanks to Chioma and his most excellent (and enthusiastic) crew for this weekends event. Much fun was had by all - very much looking forward to August for the next instalment.

Great party with the exception of that miserable, failed scout, half-elf and bitter about it, compulsively masturbating, murdering scumbag Seth (only joking JB ).

Really enjoyed the little details; the concealed page, the hidden map etc. It's these things that make all the difference in building the atmosphere and they worked really well.

Best Fight:
Xenos on the Invisible Path. No going backwards for us.

Best Scout: Snorri. For completing every task he was given with startling accuracy.

Best recipient of a hideous Mark of DEATH: Snorri. Because we didn't tell him not to.

Best Invocation: (joint winners) Crone, for her fear on Kylar. "Don't you know who I am?" and Seth, for his Touch of Death (coincidently also on Kylar). "Shut up and hold my sword!"

Best Euphemism for Invoking: Bashing the Anvil

Brilliant weekend, just what I needed.

Can we get the photos please (I'd like the one of the party especially)?

See you all soon.

It was definitely a great introduction to reffing! Pete, Pat and I had talked about myself and Sky slowly over the course of this year increasing our referee involvement, but I even 3 months ago I never thought I'd be main reffing this soon.

I really reiterate enough how immense the support has been, so:
  • Thanks to Pete for helping me formulate the plot. At last count there were over 120 emails exchanged working out all the little details!
  • Thanks to Pat for providing another opinion on the plot, and for really promoting the event and helping to get some key people to come along
  • Thanks to Mike, who gave me a lot of help beforehand on how to write an event, and then on the event was indispensable as kit-wallah, time-keeper and general advisor
  • Thanks to Sky, who will now join me for June and August and up the level more!
  • Thanks to Bruce, who again expertly player reffed again and occasionally popped over to the monster base with a number of great additional ideas
  • Thank you to the wonderful monster crew. We had a great mix of experienced people and more new ones, and I honestly don't think you could tell which ones were which (special mention for Andrew, who came from HeroFest and translated perfectly
  • Thanks to Alex White for the great Crown and Orb

  • And lastly thanks to the players for arguably taking a risk on a completely new ref. It gave me a lot of confidence seeing the player numbers growing despite you all knowing that it was an untested ref running it. (Congratulations to Phil, I am expecting a mini-Phil to be out scouting in a decade or so)

  • Really sincere thanks to you all, and hopefully we'll see you all on June/August.

    My best parts were:
The first exploding goblins. Certainly more impressive than I had anticipated.

The Tomb - It was meant to be my big set piece encounter and for me, it seemed that it succeeded (would like to know what the players thought). I do have to say though, Fendrel the ghost told his story about 9 times. Within each telling of the story, his says about 4 times "Never should've touched the Orb" "Was stupid of me to touch the Orb" "WHY DID I BE SO FOOLISH TO TOUCH THE ORB" or words to that effect. And what do you go and do..?

Ceth's Hissy Fit - was certainly surprising. So glad I chucked on the tabard to go see the aftermath of that ritual. It also nicely filled about an hour that we didn't really have stuff for, almost as if it was planned (it definitely wasn't).

The Party finding all the little things without needing nudges - I really didn't know whether the hidden letter, the map, using the Alchemist would be disgustingly obvious or way too hidden. I think, somehow, they were all workable but not too easy. I did like when Kylar first mentioned that there was an Alchemist who claimed to be able to make any potion, and the other party members in the room said "Nah, he's just a fool".

    PS
I forgot to say in the debrief that the Goblin King wishes all reports to be threaded through him for censoring. It may be sensible for you to compile 2 reports, a public one and one for his majesty. Whether you report it as a simple statement of the facts or with personal opinions in it is naturally down to you.

Players are more than welcome to submit straight to the library though that may incur his annoyance.

If you do wish to have them vetted, then send them to my username @ gmail.com

well what can i say, i heard it and thought not gonna touch that, then the pirate lust for loot thought came in to my head and i came up with the answer 'awwww to hell with it! orb first then the spear....(maim)....bugger!'

I had a superb time, infact one of the best events I've been on for a while (that may have something to do with the party though ).

Many thanks to the refs, monsters, cooks and party, special thanks to Paul (you know why)!

    Best bits.

The path fight, sometimes I have inspired ideas!

    All the party conversations!

The scouting competion that snorri won hands down, well played andy (althought, when you are playing duergar dice make sure one of them isn't stood behind you )

ALL the party getting away with been cheeky to Seth then Kylar getting TOD'ed, how I laughed in an uncomfortable way.

    Not over casting.

And the award for professional floor investigator goes to Nobby!!!!!!!

    Low bits.

    None.

    once again many thanks

    Mark.

Yep - one of the best events I've been on for ages as well - Gutted I can't be around for the follow up events! Whilst it obviously ultimately comes down to the people involved (who were all excellent!), both players and crew, all of the little details are what made it special I think - from the scroll within a scroll, the smoke, the puppet theatre, the detail in the tomb - the list goes on...

As I mentioned I'll be taking a year off from Larp now, but this was a fantastic one to go out on!

Thanks players, thanks crew, thanks Carina and Jen, but especially thanks to Chioma - it must have been a tonne of effort but it completely paid off in my book. Much appreciated.

    Best:
The Battle of the Phantom Path
The detail in the incidental characters like the alchemist and the tomb robber.
    The Party
    Smoke Bombs!

Cheers guys and girls - see you this time next year, hopefully!

Thanks to all for a very enjoyable event

the Xenos Carnival fight on the sandy field was a classic fight but there were other very enjoyable fights too

I think the tomb section was great - very atmospheric and with several things happening at once...

very much enjoyed the puppet shows & what a great prop

    exploding goblins - nuff said

    all the Ceth baiting..

the wolf fight the first night, seeing Michael's face when I got to release a little aggression on an elemental, the first minotaur fight with Mike doing bane 6, the disappointment on Andrew's face when he found that he only needed to hit me with Quin 3 times to kill me - he seemed so unsatisfied, watching Ceth do what I thought would be a Fear and the aftermath, Arrol's "I'm Nobby" moment, The Crone versus Beguiled Kylar and so much more

oh and at least half the mails from me in that epic exchange were "yes that's a great idea"
