TOPIC: Boots
#11583
Boots 5 Years, 7 Months ago Karma: 3
Before the next event, I really need some new boots as my lovely baby blue ones have given up the ghost. Anthony is being of no help to me, jus going "get some RAF ones like me", which are far too heavy for little me.

So I was jus wondering if anyone could give me some advice on the best type of boots to go for and as to where I can get them from. I'm jus trying to get bits and bobs that I really do need before september, like boots, and possibly, most deffinatly, a sleeping bag haha.

So any help would be most appriciated.

Cheers guys

if you are monstering in sept i recommend some pink wellies that are 2 sizes to big :0)
If you are thinking of playing i would recommend some cheap hiking boots, light compfy and reasonably water proof .

Hi tec magnums or similar as they are half leather and half canvas type stuff so very light but with good support etc..... (it's what all the police wear)

You can get them from almost all outdoors shops but it's best to get them from the internet. there is an ebay shop that i got some from that sells stuff well below retail value www.ebay.co.uk/itm/BNIB-WOMENS-MAGNUM-PH...hash=item45fb7cbb7c. you can also try magnum look-a-likes. just as good but half the price.

With the sleeping bag thing my advice there is don't scrimp. I have not long changed from a sleeping bag that I I bought when I was 14 for 90 pounds (i'm 39 now). Go for a 4 season with a good lower temp rating (look at comfort not extreme)

hope that helps.

Mark.

hehe I had the first aid kit, and am looking around for a belt and pouches, mine was ace for what i needed at the time but i am gonna loose it lol and i think my dad may have some leather left lying around to make a pouch for it. Ive got me a torch and head torch, my little LED torch came in very useful when kit was needed to be changed and everyone else wiht a one had fucked off lol.

and as for the tent, well mine was waterproof unlike toms hehehe and i jus need an Anthony to not be allowed to make the decision as to where to pitch the damned thing hehehe

Thank you very much for the help, its most appriciated xxx

Rich Hale does a nice line in belts and pouches. He is on here sometimes and is often at events peddling his wares.

I'd a weapon loop to the list of useful stuff to have. It's nice when playing a caster monster to be able to have a weapon in a loop rather than uncomfortably wedged in your belt and (more importantly) it looks better

Boots. If you can find them army/police motorcycle boots are awesome. I have a pair I've had for getting on 12 years and just had to spend £5 to repair the sole but other than that they are fab. Something like this in fact
www.ebay.co.uk/itm/GERMAN-FUR-LINED-HIGH...01086#ht_3998wt_1185

Not sure how you'd do trying to find ladies sizes but worth it if you can. Wool lined too very cosy.

Other than that any pair of good sturdy boots should do the job. Plain black or brown for a preference avoiding too many bright colours or logos (some people call me a costume nazi. . to those people I say. . watch your neckline!)

The thing no-one has mentioned that is of vital importance is a beer bag. OOC it's quite easy, a little shoulder bag or something that can fit 4-6 cans in will do the job nicely. When you start playing you may have to sniff around charity shops to find a suitable looking leather shoulder bag that looks appropriately IC (or get some leather and make one). Never leave on an overland without being appropriately supplied.

Bloody rain, bloody mud! Did someone mention my name?

Hi Fay, nice to speak to you.

I do indeed have a range of leatherware including belts (£25), pouches (£15, £20 and £25) and weapon loops (edged and blunt both £10 a piece).

Let me know if you would like me to put anything aside or PM me your email address so I can send photos etc.

Am about to attend the May event/Herofest and sell current stock (I hope) so get in touch asap if interested.

Love the wellies by the way!

R.
