hello all,

i am sorry and promise this will be my last post for quite a while on costume forum as i am rather clogging it up so i do appologise.

But i'd like to know where the cheapest i can get larp arrows is, i've had one quote of eight pounds each for a flat head and 9.50 plus delivery for a round headed ones. is there anywhere i can get cheaper. due to the fact i do wish to get about six to eight arrows.

Hi Mike

That's about the going price I'm afraid. You might find someone who wants to unload some second hand, but that's the rate I paid for mine.

Would this character be for HeroQuest or Fest? The reason I ask is that you might find a bow in a high hit system about as useful as the proverbial chocolate tea-pot. Archer-Wizard might be worthwhile, but ask yourself these questions before going to archer route:

Do you want to pod shot people / shoot them in the face, because you will, albeit accidentally.
Do you want a skill that is even less useful and potentially dangerous OOC at night?
Do you want to spend every battle board wandering about on your own looking for arrows?
Do you want to do A LOT of running away as Monsters do tend to make a bee-line for you once you've shot your arrow.*

Given that for me, the answer to these questions was a big "no" I gave up the bow. Besides, it's a nancy's weapon.

Phil

* Oh yeah, I've seen you play Laethia Fae - you're okay with running away a lot

lol leitha isnt exactly the bravest but sometimes can be depends how his feeling on the day in some battles his done really well lol.

anycase its as fest thing plus i do fools and heroes another system and i already paid ic for the bow and arrows as he is a woodlands warrior, but both systems are low hit systems and i'm also getting as much help for using with experience as i possibly can.

Echoing Phil really. that is pretty much the going rate for arrows, they are fiddly, a pain in the arse and potentially far more dangerous than any other type of weapon so basically are a premium.

Another option is to see whether you can get enough people together to make it worthwhile ordering a case of arrows from the IDV people (Assuming the F&H system allows the round-head arrows). You can get a sizeable discount if you bulk order but the minimum is (I believe) 144 arrows so you are looking needing a few people to come in on it to make it viable.

I might be up for it. I think Neil Herron still has a couple of arrows for me but my quiver is looking much sparser than it once did.

That's the other thing to get used to. Breakages and losses.

However that said for the Herofest battle last year was one of the most outrageously entertaining fights I have ever been in at LRP. Bows + 1 hit systems = comedy. Ditto for the fight circle stuff.

Shaun
Keen archer, but admits for HQ they are far less useful.

ok, i wont be using them at heroquest, i prefer for high hit systems to use swords and one handed weapons and maybe a shield.

i will see if people want to bulk order as load of arrows or im happy just to pay the best rate i've found. £8 seems a decent price. breakages i guess will be a pain but i will try and keep as many as i can without them.

thanks for the help.
