TOPIC: Moving stuff around on the website
#4628
Moving stuff around on the website 7 Years, 10 Months ago Karma: 26
Hey all

As you may have noticed, things are moving around on the website.

1. I haven't been able to test this in all browser/operating system combos (only on Windoze) but if the Search box on the right-hand side is stupidly big/small can you let me know?

2. If there is any link etc whose move has caused you great irritation can you also please let me know...

On the upside of all this, there are many new pages with shiny photos on them. I'd be curious to know what your favourite photo(s) on the website are (e.g. Emily as the elf drawing the bow) or if you know of any good ones that are currently not somewhere prominent!

Thanks,
Sarah

Small laptop screen (13.1" widescreen) running Ubuntu using Firefox 3.5 looks OK.

I would prefer a slightly smaller banner at the top of the screen but that is true for just about every website that exists.

I also prefer less image intensive sites but that is a very personal preference. Photos just take up space that could be used for text. Galleries are fine.

Having said that the pictures you have chosen are all really good and very appropriate for the section they are in. The ones of the different magical ritual levels in particular are very good, really showing the difference between battle/high/sorcery.

There does seem to be some red corruption on the first pic (QS tending someone) in the death and dying section - the whole bottom half of the picture is obscured.

Keep up the good work!

Oooh, I wonder how that happened? Well spotted, I'll have to change that.

p.s. I really like the one of Boshek invoking on his shield. Even if the glare from the sun on said shield makes it look like you're invoking goodness & light

There were several great casting ones that I didn't manage to include there (would have been photo overload) including Tersius in the snow - think these will go into the Rules section.

I agree that the banner at the top takes up too much screen real estate, whether or not this can be nicely changed is another matter...!

I forgot to mention that the site looked absolutely fine on my work PC as well - Windows 2000 (I work for the council, they're cheap) running IE6.

Chalk up another vote for the blue/storms background. Much more evocative and less dull and 'corporate' than the old green scheme.

Hope everyone had as good a Christmas as I did - I look forward to seeing some of you at New Years for a lovely meal and some friendly company.

Cheers

Thanks for the feedback

Rob, guess the blue background was worth the trouble of sneaking back into the computer room for
