I wonder if it's worth splitting more clearly into IC and OOC, right from the get go - have a high level out-of-character link and a link for the KV Archives?

Might make it easier if the Web-Wizards eventualy want to open it to other groups. Then you could have:

HeroQuest
Out-of-character
Kern Valley Archives

Fools and Heros
Out-of-CHaracter
Norham Province Library(or whatever, their site doesn't make it too clear)

etc

Cool! Nice one Pete (IMHO)

I'd envisioned it as being system-neutral (to entice many LRPers from many systems to contribute, thus promoting the HQ brand to a wider audience) however as Phil suggests no reason why this content can't be broken into further categories under different systems for example (hopefully wouldn't invite copyright issues...???)

I think we will want to try to steer clear of duplicating some content from the official website (e.g. rules), otherwise maintaining it in 2 distinct regions is twice as much work, plus there are people who will argue over which is the definitive version etc!

Of course the uber lords of HQ Admin/Otherways have the final say, I am a mere morsel (not mortal)

put the new rules intro on the wiki more as a way for people to comment/edit - I propose putting the new rules on the wiki for people to comment & edit before they reach the live site - I'd also like to do a downloadable rulebook....

is there really no other LARP wiki?

why not invite the guys from rule 7 (link below) to contribute?

forums.rule7.co.uk/

Phil - go ahead and change the main page - its very easy to edit

cheers

Yes, well I did rather ask for that didn't I? Um, I'm kinda busy with something else at the moment, let's call it interactive fan fiction, though I might get to take a look at the wiki on the occasions that my inspiration runs dry... (When I originally wrote asking about the wiki, I was expecting it to be some months away...)

I did have a go at a downloadable rulebook myself once, but organising it got horribly complicated. As many skills, for example, are available to multiple guilds, it got quite hard to find a way to represent it all without lots of cross referencing. Also, it was about 100 sides of A4 when finished. Quite a tome to download. So I had a go at splitting it up, with Low-level rules, guild handbook, high level, magic, power. But again, it ended up with so much cross-referencing, I rather lost the will to live on it and gave up.

If anyone wants what I did, I'm happy to mail it to them...

cheers

hopefully H2 this year post-May HQ i will be able to stick a lot more on the wiki.

My suggestion is to do the rules via the wiki so that everyone has chance to comment & discuss
