The King's Wedding: Important Info For Players 8 Years, 4 Months ago Karma: 2
The King’s wedding will be a relatively open adventure weekend during which the player group will have opportunities to decide how they organise themselves, with the freedom to pick and choose from a number of options, and also to explore.

It would therefore be helpful to keep the following points in mind.

1. Between breakfast and midnight there will generally be at least two options, and sometimes more, available to all players. How the overall player group approaches this will not be dictated by the referees, and it will be possible to split into groups, ignore options or simply hang out in camp as desired.

2. Some areas of the site will be clearly marked off with yellow and black hazard tape. Please do not cross this tape without the express permission of a referee. Finding gaps in tape or climbing over/under it without a referee will result in players exploding without warning! If you come across a taped-off area that you would like to enter please find a referee and ask them if access is possible. In general they will then arrange this for you. Note that the crew base is also marked off by yellow and black tape, but don’t ask us for access there!

3. This event has an established “waypoint” which may be visited by any player(s) at any time. Ask a referee or crew member for directions. The waypoint is represented by a wooden post wrapped in yellow and black tape and holds a notice board that provides in-character information which will be regularly updated throughout the event. It may therefore be worth visiting the waypoint at various times. However, the journey to or from the waypoint is sometimes hazardous! The waypoint will also be used to represent overland travel (for example to reach a specific point on the site players will have to travel via the waypoint). This will be explained in more detail during the event.

4. We will also use a number of “scout stones” during the event. These clearly marked stones can only be touched, moved or lifted by a character that chooses skills from the “scout” table. This represents the ability of scouts to see detail and discover information that is not apparent to other character classes. Beneath the stone there will be information that may or may not prove helpful. Once the scout has read this information the stone must be replaced exactly as it was found. Scout stones are assumed to be invisible to non-scouts, but the location of these stones may be shared between scouts.

5. Throughout the weekend the camp (known as Kingsfort) will be divided into three areas. The Valley Alliance (players) will be camped in one area, which will include the King’s Tent and the Assembly Tent. These two tents can be freely entered by players when they are opened, but are assumed to be sealed with an unranked power ward when shut. The Senatus Empire will be camped within the stockade. Again, this area can be freely approached and entered (via the front gate only) when open, but is otherwise assumed to be sealed by an unranked power ward (as are all other entrances to the stockade and the walls themselves). Note that the area behind the stockade is serving as a crew base and should not be entered at any time. The final area is the main building, which is considered neutral ground.

6. Kingsfort is well defended by guards and King’s Scouts. In general these individuals will provide warning of any approaching force or enemy, and can be relied upon to securely guard the camp whilst players are sleeping. Priest Edwin of the Wardens Sect heads wedding logistics, and will act as a point of contact for players.

Looking forward to a great event!

I like the idea of 'scout stones'.

It'll be very interesting to see how the waypoint idea works too!

Looking forward to it,

D.

Question regarding the scout stones, can they only be seen by primary scouts or can those that have a scouting guild as a secondary guild see them aswell?

Taking what JB said literally (below), I think it's characters picking off scout tables (irrespective of guild) only:

'These clearly marked stones can only be touched, moved or lifted by a character that chooses skills from the “scout” table'

No doubt he'll confirm this though...

Cheers,

Correct Darrell: you have to choose your skills from the Scout table in order to use Scout Stones.

So, being a dunce on this Gutrot would be able to see these stones as he has scout status skills although he is primary warrior?

Hi Mark,

Skills/guild are irrelevant; it's just the table (e.g. human scout, elven scout, half-orc scout) you pick off.

I guess Gutrot is a half-orc warrior, so he won't be able to see the stones...

Cheers,

D.
