Ditto Pat & Shaun...

The only thing I'd add is that:

(1) Many great suggestions often come from monsters, especially when they're aware of what's going on plot wise (because they've monstered related events). I remember several good ideas that have happened on the spur of the moment, and have been down entirely to monsters. (I remember Robin Bruce's chaos quizmaster in particular!)

And on a related note,

(2) It's great when there's consistency across monster crew for plot-related events, not only because of (1) but also because it's far easier to brief the monsters and to give monsters important recurring parts... (Remember Greville anyone?)

Cheers,

D.

I think that type casting of monsters can work in reverse, example, on the last event both myself and alex played some 'normal' parts instead of the usual 'hard' warrior and went down very quickly much to the surprise and delight of the party, as no matter how much you try to suspend belief a little part of you will always be going it's mark or Alex or other notable persons and they are going to be docking hard.

and I don't mind being type cast yet it is always nice once in a while to be pushed out of ones comfort zone. (jan event playing drow was my own 'moment'

but there is nothing quite so satisfying as playing a narly zombie, and watching the party take ages to kill something that cannot hit them, watching them lose concentration for one second and 'Nov!' ooo. last event I played four zombies (not all at once) and hit one person once. It was awesome.
Especially when you trade off with a squitty goblin next encounter. The problem with playing the huge warrior type is that you get accused of being a butcher, while we all know that it is much more dangerous facing Seb as a ghoul...

That's completely unfair... If it's the evening, I've finished my breakfast beer & crate of John Smiths and I've had my customary bottle of wine with dinner my ghouls are pretty damned useless I'll have you know!
