Next event - some basic preparations 7 Years, 7 Months ago Karma: 26
Does anyone have battle candles of any shape, size or form for us to use on the next mission?

Also, does everyone have a tower symbol? (let me know if you don't as I can bring a spare if needs be)

I am guessing Bill won't have a symbol but I doubt Tarquin has any status so it's probably irrelevant.

it looks like its going to be hard to Ref, 9 monsters, 6 hero level players and 2 low (John probably has 1 status now... get Good Power Mr Barleycorn, some Purple fellas think it would be a good idea).

Have fun tomorrow....

I don't think I'm going to be a great contributor in the fights. I'm even less fit than I was a few years ago...

Sarah: I have no light sources at all. Not even a torch. (Will try to remedy that at least.)

I do have a tower symbol though.

And I just realised what I don't have... Anyone got a phys rep with a feather (or feathers) that I could borrow? The years have not been kind to the one I had, it disintegrated last night when I picked it up.

I've got 2 Hurricane lanterns and a gallon of paraffin already piled with my kit I don;t have any battle candles left though which is a shame as they can be handy.

Yes I have my tower symbol (well my whole outfit is in tower colours really).

Mike I'll check my kit for feathers I might be able to knock something up if I have any of my old tribal stuff left but don't count on it!

Can we say 5 Hero level characters, 2 low levels and Shard? I break easy and count count myself with the hard-lot (in fact I plan on hiding behind Tarquin. . is that wrong?)

light sources are over rated, the monsters can see you then, much better to stumble around in the dark, tripping over every small peddle and twig that happens to be lying on the floor. I can cheat and bring my night vision scope!

depends on the moon and prevailing weather conditions how much light you need at night - this weekend its going to be a quarter moon and most likely clear (looking at the metoffice) so should be OK

Yeah, the weather looks to be brilliant. I'd better bring some sunblock as I remember getting horribly burnt at Candlestone one February 66. Also, expect it to be sub-zero at night so...

SARAH: BRING SOMETHING WARM.

Please.

I've always espoused the idea that "they'll be plenty of light no need to bring lanterns/candles" until the last event and the overland to escort the Drow past the Morgothians. Standing on the path 20ft from the first guards and not being able to see there were people there let alone who or what they were made the whole encounter somewhat farcical.

Hopefully Pete's right though and we have decent nighttime weather

Incidentally I know there are wood-burners in the main building and the yurts but is there a source of wood being brought in (like the October HQ)? The site has been pretty much cleaned out over the past few years so sources of decent woodfall are virtually none-existent.

I've been on a number of dungeons where a light source would have been helpful.

Stumbling down a treacherous wooded hill at Buckstone in the pitch black and hoping noone would twist an ankle.

Afore-mentioned pitch-black encounter with the drow... it's always annoying when someone from a different House pops up in the middle of you and mocks you for your lack of guards/awareness...

Remembering how great it was when Pat as Montague deCapulet held up a lantern so we could see who we were fighting on the Ikarus HQ.

p.s. yes am worried about the cold, especially after my "warm" cloak proved insufficient on the last dungeon.

What _is_ the weather forecast for the event then? Is there any rain due?

No rain due.

Sunny or Sunny with partial white cloud during the days, highs of 7-9 degrees C.

Most nights are around freezing, but Saturday is forcast for -5.

Many good websites exist for getting a 5 day forcast for bridgend

I doubt there is firewood already there, so I suggest folks that want warm bedrooms pick up a bag from a garage on the way there.

I'll try and bring some too.

Cheers,
Fraser
