I don't have a problem with the player-ref drinking a cup of tea while everyone else is getting warm by bashing monsters into the ground. And as Pete pointed out, it's not much different in terms of level of contribution to some of the PC Wolfhold scouts I've met in the past

I don't like the idea of an actual "neutrality to everything" invocation but I don't see why Seekers/Pathfinders/Hunters couldn't have special "guide" training that enables certain individuals (i.e. on events, player-refs) to "blend into the background" during fights... most players will be fighting themselves then and so wouldn't/shouldn't notice that the player ref is observing

p.s. don't want my comments to get in the way of what should be a "thanks" thread to the crew for a fun event!!

As always thanks to all the refs and crew who made it possible for us to have a great time. An excellent event.

Very pleased I played Maggot intead of Toshiro. Really enjoyed playing him again after a long (for me) break. My timing on meditates and random invokes got so good that our guide was convinced I was casting summoning spells instead.
I have to appologise to Kevralyn again for "that" comment. Bad Maggot. At least it gave the party a laugh.
I really enjoyed the numerous comedy moments. Every party needs a brace of half orcs, at least for translating Drow monologues into three word sentences everyone else can understand.

Although it was REALLY cold I much prefer cold and dry to wet, especially when wearing armour, makeup and prosthetic. Yay for the north wind! Felt sleeping bag liner FTW!

L8R,
Adam.

And your immediate grovelling saved quite a bit of party resources from being expended at that point.

another favourite bit was getting kevvie to say sorry to gutrot when she thought he was being rude to a guest when infact it was one of the reader that was being rude!

ah yeh it was the reader bloke being rude to the DFD... but actually that wasn't an isolated incident, there was nearly a repeat later but I twigged just in time that the culprit then was Maggot not Gutrot!

it's kind of easy to make that mistake when one hears any gruff rude comments coming from gutrot's general direction

Thanks to all for another excellent event!

Despite the cold it was consistently engaging with great plot, that I actually managed to keep up with this time and great fights, with a fine monster crew - thanks guys.

Faves:
New rules really improved the mixed-rank nature of the event
The trial (I knew my A-Level in Law would come in handy one day )
The party
The monsters
The refs
The cooks
The stready supply of orcish humour
Well, basically, the event.

Cheers
P

It sure did in the bestest possible way!

The pipe was a nice touch (almost Sherlock Holmes?). And we all enjoyed the phrase "a self-confessed poisoner"

p.s. As Shaun has a degree in Law too, I don't feel so bad now The closest I've ever got to the subject is arguing with my brother who's a solicitor
