TOPIC: To those coming of age at Gilden Far
#11938
To those coming of age at Gilden Far 5 Years ago Karma: 5
Greetings to all those who are coming to Gilden Far in the coming weeks on the mission to tangle with Tiresias (hopefully finally), retrieve as many soul essences as possible (again all nine ideally), release said essences to the beyond (if we know how to by then) and return home to much pomp and celebrations.

A quick precis is in order for those who are not in the know is probably required.

There are nine soul essences trapped in gems which were the first souls used to make the Agoth experiment Soul Gardens. I have two of these, Cardinaris has three, One is on the Realm of Battle and Tiresias has the remaining three. Tiresias requires these essences as they are potentially very potent energy sources and he needs them to:
a. Power the wards preventing his 'child' from escaping 'the nursery'.
b. Create a way off of Orin Rakatha before his enemies catch up with him (pretty much everyone nowadays).

Tiresias is being hunted by two towers in particular, the Labyrithe of Xenos and The Dymwan. The LOX would like to re-integrate him back into their hive mind. The Dymwan would like to exact some revenge upon him. Personally, I would prefer that neither of these groups got hold of him as I believe that they both would benfit from his knowledge of the Agoth experiment and his considerable knowledge and powers of the mind. That may not be practicalable however.

Tiresias has created a 'Child' who we suspect is the mysterious Humacti Spirit that got us into this in the first place. I believe that it is angling to be released from it's confinement in 'The Nursery' where Tiresias has been growing it. I don not know whether releasing it would be a good thing however. I suspect that we may be able to use it in some way to help us overpower/destabilise Tiresias and hopefully that will become clear during the mission.

Each essence gem has a restless spirit associated with it which needs to be quieted before the essence can be safely carried/used otherwise the spirit keeps returning. In the back of my mind I feel that the aim of The Dymwan may be to use us to calm these spirits so that the soul essence can be used more easily as power sources.

Our mission will likely begin with the three meetings.

The Labyrinthe have offered us assistance in defeating Tiresias as long as we agree to hand him over to them. I don't see that as a reasonable exchange. My plan with them, which is open to suggestions, is to refuse their offer but to offer them some information whereby the can still achieve their goal. That information would be that The Dymwan are going to trade their three essences for Tiresias and that we will have to agree to it. However if those essences became the property of the LOX then we'd be forced to trade with them. This ruse might get both potential our foes to fight amongst themselves. I think I'd rather give Tiresias to the LOX anyhow.

The meeting with Calix Wraithspawn of The Dymwan will probably be reasonably civil as Calix expects us to make a deal with him. They have offered us a trade of the three essences that Cardinaris has, in exchange for Tiresias. This is much more attractive as I can't see any other likely way that we would be able to get at those essences. I think there is a strong chance that once we've defeated Tiresias the Dymwan will try and take all our essences, and Tiresias both, from us. Even if it is not Calix himself it may well be some other faction of The Dymwan. A Valley group recently encountered some Dymwan bragging that the Valley were playing into their hands. One High Pristess in that group was named Wraithspawn so may have a connection to Calix. If there is anything anyone can think of to prepare for this then feel free to put it forward and I'll see what can be done with the guilds.

The third meeting will be with Banyl Ironmind, leader of a group of Duegar, and will probably consist of us negotiating a price for the information on where we can find Tiresias. The Duegar aided us previously and we owe them some debt for that. Reportedly, Banyl has been tracking Tiresias and may be able to provide us with his location. I suspect that this will increase our debt to him considerably. I can only image that he and his band will require a route off of Orin Rakatha as they have been abandoned here with the fall of Annach Moranannil and have no desire to remain.

Other than that we may need to travel to the Realm of Battle to try and retrieve the essence there but I'm hopeful that Tiresias will travel there and get it for us. Optimistically, just before we attack him.

Any suggestions or thoughts would be gratefully welcomed.

Ichabod,
Wizard of the Blue School.

Ichabod and Randolphin

I have been asked by Dread Lord Araikas to join your group and offer you my full support in your quest. I pledge my sword, shield and life to the leaders of this party.

Thankyou for your informative document, I will further ponder your words but at present I like your style. Is there any reason why we should give Tiresias to any of the interested parties?

I have received intelligence that the Kalid 3rd Legion led by General Rancorn will also have a strong and significant presence within the area of the Wraiths Head Waystation. A Kalid Shanu-atiu (Holy Man / High Priest) called Sen Atu-on Ab, has arranged to stay within the vicinity of the waystation until Fireday. I have been tasked to slay this ‘holy man’ and return his body and possessions to the dreadlord as proof that I have completed the final part of my tests to become the Warrior Baron of Wolfhold. As a Baron I will be taking the light of the Good Sphere and the understanding of balance into the heart of Darkhome. This is my test alone but would ask all present to support me in my endeavour.

Should we encounter General Rancorn we will need to assess the situation carefully due to the potential threat that he poses. We can discuss this in more depth when we meet in the field.

Long live Fortune’s Keep and may your tankard be forever moist.

Smudge,

Good to have you along. I'm sure the group will support you in your trial.

I normally steer well clear of outright assassinations but I feel that the sentiment of the group would be in your favour.

I had heard the Kalid were in the area and I assumed that it was because Tiresias often uses them as mercenaries. That may be the case here but if not it would be good to find out what they are doing.

Perhaps we will be able to find some way to divert this general away from your target in order to give you enough time to deal with him.

Ichabod.

Assassination's a bit harsh but I know where you're coming from. I'd call it repaying a debt to a bitter enemy. This one's for Bo-Shek.

My thanks Vallan, you are most welcome to join in with a dose of retribution... but no dresses please!

Looking forward to seeing you and Kakky (plus horde) again.

Obelisk,

If you wish, you may have the opportunity to speak with the LOX High Enchanter Pochanti (if it is indeed that unit that attends.)

You'll probably getter a straighter answer than from Tiresias.

Smudge,

I will look forwards to learning of your particular understanding of balance, should you care to discuss it.

Until then, and afterwards, you have my support.
