Call to Arms 4 Years, 6 Months ago Karma: 14
Brothers, I call upon any who hold dear to the Good Sphere and wish to preserve the cause of Good over the Unlife, to join me in a temporary leave of absence from our Tower in order to aid members of the Heights in their rightful Crusade against the Dymwan. I have spoken to Sir Clavados and have been granted permission to pursue my own personal interests for a period of two months; during this time my actions are my own and do not reflect the will of our Tower or our people, but rather my own desires.

I will be setting out forthwith and offer this opportunity for other like minded people to join me.

Vallen,

If this traitor and coward wants to abandon his own people then let him, he will be treated as all other of the other scum from the heights when vengeance comes ripping through them.

Calm down you two.

Seems to me that for the time being if the Hights wish to give the Dymwan a bit of a kicking then we should be all for it. I would certainly be happy to assist were I not otherwise engaged.

Of course should they subsequently turn their attention to Fortune's Keep, that would be another matter. But another matter for another day.

We have precious need of allies, even temporary ones.

And would you really consider the heights allies? Whem they where the ones responsible for the loss off one of our towers?

While I don't necessarily agree wholly with Brother Anthony's decision, he has made it clear that this is a personal choice, he has sought a temporary leave from his duties to further it, has obtained approval and is focusing on the Dymwan.

To call him a traitor when he seeks to oppose some of our enemies - albeit in his own way - for a short term period with no suggestion that he would in any way oppose or otherwise harm a member of Fortunes Keep does not seem appropriate for any member, especially one who would seem to be temporarily holding a postion of seniority on behalf of another.

Regardless of personal opinions, he has chosen to take action in line with his beliefs against those who by their very nature act contrary to the forces of nature/life. This can only garner our respect and, who knows, such actions may (unlikely as it may seem) even come to help influence the forces of the Heights into not pursuing their long term anticipated agenda against our keep! We can but hope.

Brother Anthony - I wish you well, and while not personally opposed to the Evil Sphere - all the spheres have their place, together - as you are, I hope to meet you one day to hear how your mission fared!

Driedyn, Priest of the Grey Path.

I think Driedyn says it quite well!
How does a person choosing to join the heights against the dymwan make them a traitor?
I understand where your coming from Kylar, it does seem odd and Brother Anthony hasn't expressed that he will return before the heights turn on us, but I think that goes without saying. Also, the heights assisted in their own way of rescuing you from the grasp of Carfleen and undoubtably helped in destroying The Morgothian tower, so if you look at it from their point if view a large group from the valley went and assisted them in the first stage of their crusade . . . An I and those who were on that mission traitors???
It may be different circumstances but when it's boiled down we helped them in one way and brother Anthony wants to help them in another.
If the sector lords are happy for this to happen I don't see why there is a problem.
I personally see no harm is assisting the heights in the destruction of the dymwan.
I have friends who are evil sphere users and though I choose not to use it I see no problem in people casting it. So I'm not keen on the crusade as a whole but they've helped us in ways indirectly!

I would not at all consider Halmandon's Hights allies. However, for the time being they have set themselves against the Dymwan, and until that changes, I would propose that we take full advantage of the situation. The enemy of my enemy and so on...

Driedyn brings up a good point also: namely perhaps Brother Anthony might demonstrate another side of our tower and reduce their enthusiasm of extending their crusade to us. Though I must confess that I hold out little hope - in my experience the fanatical can be mite inflexible.

I notice how neither of you remember how it was the heights who taught the kalid how to dream. how they are the one responsible for the loss of one of our towers. and as far as i am aware they did not assist in my rescue. that was a valley mission that returned me to my own people. as far as i am concerned they had nothing to do with it.

And as for this crusade of theirs, who exactly do you think will be next? if they defeat cardinaris who is the next most powerful user of the evil sphere on this plane? who will their next target be? and are you so blind as to think they wont consider you tainted and attempt to wipe you out? or do you plan to just sit on the sidelines and watch your own people get killed? seems an odd definition of "good" to me

I remember only too well that they taught the Kalid to dream. They are clearly not to be trusted and I'm not suggesting that we do.

What I am suggesting is pragmatism. At the risk of repeating myself, we have few allies upon OR and since the loss of Wolfhold and the White Retreat we have seldom been more vulnerable.

Therefore in our current situation grudges, whilst justified, should be set aside. Vengeance, waylaid. As things are today, we stand to gain more from assisting the Heights than opposing them. When this changes, so should our policy towards them.

We need to gain advantage where we can, and not let ourselves be dictated to by the past. We should heed its lessons, of course, but it must guide our hand, not force it.
