What about the site that we used for the Vanguard HQ? I don't know what it is called but I know it isn't Pwll Du.
Seemed to have lots of features near it and would be good for a special.

i think kinver would be awesome for a short event, just means carrying less drinks, proper 24 hour ration packs little fires and sleeping bags. with all the norm kit.

Kinver used to be good for longer events. . with a great big tent, folding bed, BBQ and firepit

I'd certainly be up for slightly rougher conditions than we have become used to if the site offered as much as, for example, Kinver does. It isn't hard to organise food for a group of people in a camp it just takes someone to own it. I'm not sure if Creen would still want to take it on "in the wilds" but BBQ sausage buns for breakfast travel easily and pre-prepared stews in big pots are also doable. The only thing we might miss out on is the buffet lunch! Could potentially also encourage longer overlands like the Saturday at buckstone at Chiomas event which was really good fun.

even the stable block at blackwells with a drive play to kinver. I can honestly say that I've never had an event 'ruined' because there where other people about. Spoke to Paul yesterday and he said that he was looking at the kinver scout camp site. It looks like it has everything we need, I hope he can sort it out. I like candlestone but with the costs and the site starting to look a bit tatty other sites would be a bonus. I used to enjoy the drive to places I've never been to before.

Has anyone been to Barnswood?

Exclusive use starts at £1575, so probably only suitable for 2 party theme weekends/ 5-days.

It looks pretty cool, and between the 4 buildings:
Camp Hall, Marsden Chalet, Tuck Shop Chalet, Pine Lodge, there's everything you could need.

Worth a visit at least, postcode is SK11 0RA.

Erm. Not to put anyone on a downer - and we really appreciate all of the suggestions and ideas but £1500 is about twice our top end budget for site hire...

We can go a bit higher for HQs but not too much more because our 5 days actually subsidise our other events which generally operate at a loss...

If anyone wants to see the figures they are welcome to have a look at them - we really are operating as a not-for-profit business these days and are cutting our margins as thin as we can to keep prices where they are (and maybe a bit lower - exciting news on that front soon I hope).

Ah klkl. Don't know why but I thought 50% went on site costs for some reason (doesn't quite add up even with that considering recent numbers on adventure weekends).

Just out of interest, how much is Candleston these days?

Between 6 and £800 pounds if I recall correctly. Paul handles bookings and money - I just mooch about trying to look busy by posting things on here

This place won't be ready for a while, but could be interesting to keep an eye on:
