Suggest a Site 6 Years, 4 Months ago Karma: 6
We are always looking for new, affordable and suitable sites at which to run HQ events. However this takes time and we at HQ central have many things to do.

So if you, our lovely players, find a site that you think may be suitable, preferably having visited yourself to make sure it meets our exacting standards (i.e. it has a kitchen suitable for cooking for 30 people, beds or sleeping accomodation and toilet facilities), send the details to Paul, Pete and Myself.

Details should include;

Price for sole use of the site for Friday->Sunday, Thursday->Sunday and/or a full week.

Full contact details for the site and booking office.

A summary of the facilities available, preferably with a link to photos or maps of the area.

A personal description for those sites you have visited.

If we go ahead and book it then the (first) person who found and recommended the site gets to play an event at the nominated site for free.

So a great chance to find a site local to you, saving you both time getting to the event and possibly money too if you are the first person to recommend it.

Also if there are any sites you liked that we used to use but don't any more then feel free to do some investigation and see if they are still available for our use - same rules as above.

Cheers

Pat

been to beaudesert nice place, but also i know theres a little hut there that would make an awesome player base + big nice kitchen + its got lots of awesome looking areas for rituals and stuff. monster base could be done easily. lots of beds. lots of forest and open areas.

Only down side to this is its a brownies hut and the beds are about six inches shorter than me.

I went there with princes trust and thought it'd be awesome as a place to have a heroquest but was told stop been silly by the lady in charge of the group when i were talking to me mate about it.

Beaudesert is literally just down the road from my parent's house so I will check it out next time I visit them.

Pat, I used to go there loads when I was in cubs, scouts and ventures.
Loads of woodland to use and castle ring is next door. There used to be a dirt road leading away from the camp that took you to beaudesert old hall that was in ruins. As it is a scout camp there is a huge fire pit with banked seating around it (could seat about 200) There was a building that we used to stay in in the winter that had a large kitchen, living/dining area and could sleep about 20 people in the main sleeping area with a smaller 'masters room' that could sleep 4. It was called white lodge but looking at the price list may now be called 'the lodge' There were also several 'nissan' huts that had sleeping accom aswell but havn't been there for many many years. If and when you come up let me know and if I can i'll meet you there and show you around (if I can still remember how to get to places, it has been almost 20 years since I was last there!)

I suspect the problem with that site would be to get sole usage as there are lots of buildings and each building sleeps about 20

A suggestion for discussion:

Would HQ consider using a site if it was a truly great site, but was not quite up to scratch with sleeping and cooking facilities?

Some of the greatest games I've been on, were, in part, made by exploring a great site for the first time (I'm thinking yastradfelte, corsair HQ locations and early candleston games).

If such sites are ever available, but at the cost of camping, basic toilet facilities, and a more 'picnic' style of food, would there still be a market for them, as long as they were advertised clearly as a one off?

You could call it 'HQ back to basics!'

Craig

PS. I still think Candleston is very special place. If it was nearby (which it isn't for me) its the kind of place I would like to visit anyway (in normal clothes, I mean). I'm not bored of it. However I do like it when we visit the far edges of the site (as long as I'm not carrying a monster bag). I like the sea!

Craig,

I would certainly consider it if there was enough interest expressed by the players. What we would be loathe to do is go to the effort of finding a site, camping only with no facilities, only to have 4 people turn up for the event.

I too am a big fan of Ystrafelte (don't drink the water!) and Kinver just as two examples.

Would our players stand for a dungeon without their bacon sarnies in the morning and no comfy Yurt to sleep in? You tell us.

I know it's not perfect but we got away with it on the YMCA HQ at the site near London and Blackwells is hardly sole use either so well worth a look.

Got your message last night btw Pete...no probs.
