Upcoming mission To POTSD 5 Years, 5 Months ago Karma: 5
Greetings,

For those of you coming on the upcoming missing to the Dark Pass on the Plane of the Sleepless Dead, and weren't on the mission to Gilden Far, I thought that you'd appreciate some details of why we're going and what we seek to accomplish (in my opinion, of course).

We'll assemble near to the Aldonar Tombs and attempt to affect entry to the POTSD by calling the Chorien. Hopefully Sutnac and Anthrax (our Death specialists) will be able to accomplish this.

Once on the plane, we'll hopefully be in the Realm of the Dark Pass. There we need to locate the last remaining Soul Garden from the Agoth experiment. This one has remained hidden, as it has 'partially merged' with the plane. Exactly what this means is unclear. From the Soul Gardren we'll need to extract a large crystal that conatins a Vere essence. There will be a spirit (or maybe more) attached to the essence, the first spirit whose essence had been imprisoned in the Vere crystal, that will need to be pacified and placed in a Soul Container. We may have to make the Soul Container first as they are specific to the spirit they will contain.

There are other essences and spirits on the POTSD that we will want to collect, if we can, while we are there. Two in the Realm of Disease and Decay, One in the Realm of Pain and one in the Realm of Battle.

Simple.

Or not so.

We also know that Tiresias, ex tower leader of the Catacombs of Agoth, is also searching for the Vere crystals/essences in order to a. power his exit from Orin Rakatha (before he is caught) and b. help grow his 'child'. His child has been growing in power and he used it to recover one of crystals (the one we now have) from the POTSD previously. The impression was, that the 'child' was very powerful.

We may also encounter the Tombs of Dymwan who are interested in recovering Tiresias for themselves and the Labyrinthe of Xenos likewise.

Also, we encountered some Duegar from house Agraathan who assisted us and we blithely promised them some return of the favour.

I look forward to meeting you all at the Aldonar Tombs in the near future.

Ichabod,
Wizard of the Blue School.

Hello Ichabod,

I was on the mission to destroy Agoth. The path you are due to take is very similar to the one we took then. Its a shame I can't come, but I'm needed in the library, I'm in the middle of translating a treatise on the nature of Aspects of Spheres, that the owners want back very soon, and the deadline is looming. Any way I digress....

I can't seem to find a mission report either in the public domain or my private notes, which I must apologise for, so memory will have to do.

I vaguely remember some difficulty for those not connected to the evil sphere in getting into one of the realms (?disease and decay). The realm of disease and decay was an awful place. As time passes, it sapped your will, and you would develop a progressively worse disease. Receiving multiple blows from its denizens would make the disease progress more quickly too. I remember having to use many cure disease invocations to damp down its progression. In our final battle against the vere, I received many blows, was knocked unconscious, apparently upon the floor my disease progressed, becoming fatal and I died. I suggest investing in many items or potions of curing disease, especially fatal diseases. It is also a difficult place to meditate, invocations or items to do this quickly may also be valuable, you will use power quickly. I truly hated this place.

I remember the realm of pain mostly because of its large population of wasps, which is hardly suprising. I remember opponents with psionic abilities, though I am unsure whether these were native or related to a vere. They would cause great injury to the head, and lock and stun minds. We had no psionicists so we found the best way of dealing with them was to run at them quickly and hit them with a big stick.

The realm of battle is much as expected. We met retinues of knights as I remember, even engaging their champions in single combat. Their champions knew martial skills similar to those taught by our guilds, hit with strong physical blows, with the added sting of both magic and power, which were something of a bane to those who fought in single combat.

I have been involved in destroying 2 soul gardens. They are typically buildings containing many bottles labelled in sigils, though the sigils don't easily tell you what is in them. The buildings often have guardians, that constantly return when slain, until all bottles are opened. Opening each bottle often releases a magic or power effect, either on the opener, or across a wide area. As a soul is released, some would instantly flee, some might fight then flee, some may want to kill everything in sight. We did also find a couple of allies, including a member of our Warden sect. The scene is inevitably chaotic with mass effects, relentless guardians, and weird opponents springing up constantly. I wonder what the effect of 'merging with the plane' will be. Be cautious with the above information, however, things may have changed since then, especially after the demise of Agoth

Hope this is of use, sorry I can't be there. Invest in cure disease potions! May your sphere watch over you.

The mission reports you were looking for Tepic are 51-55.
the eternal nights i think are the title for them.
Hope this helps to fill in any gaps.

In addition to the mission reports received, quite a lot of background information on Agoth was deposited in the "Recovered Material" section in the archives (located close to the Mission Reports). Skip to about page 5 and you should start turning up the relevant documents.

Be aware that most beings will be crippled and unable to act just by being on the Realm of Pain, unless they have the will to resist or are protected by an invocation.

Ah yes, its referenced in the library under 'the eternal night', I was looking for 'Agoth'.

Yes, Lancorrin's comment is crucial, you cannot succeed there without some way of reliably removing / resisting pain for the duration of your stay.

Last time Ezekiel had a potion that would prevent it, for an extended amount of time, it may be worth doing this again if possible.

One thing you can count on is that Scumgrief is causin' trouble wherever he is. He is a very bad man.

Ichabod,

Interesting. Thank you for taking the time to explain this background.

The mission to destroy Agoth haunts me still. Teppic's information (hello, fellow campaigner, your company will be missed) is completely accurate as far as I recall. Particularly, the wasps. At least their attacks were indiscriminate, assaulting both friend and foe.

The Plane of Disease and Decay will test us all. It is a dreadful place, unless things have changed, we must have protection to survive. I have a mid-ranked potion or cure disease, that is all.

Jack,

Given the low level of preparedness for dealing with those two realms, I'm hoping that either the Humacti at the Aldonar Tombs will have something efficacious or that we'll find that we don't need to travel there.

Our sponsor, High Priest Hagan, has already left the Tower for that location so I've been unsuccessful in getting any further concrete aid at this time.

At this point, optimism is my ally.

Ichabod.
