Okay, can some kind rules lawyer or current-day ref help me out here please

Looking at the description of Shroud:

This invocation bestows upon the caster an embodiment of the Evil Sphere that gives an effective Power Armour Class of 12. This Cloak stacks with both unarmoured and armoured dexterity, but will not stack with any protection from the Good Sphere.

Okay, it doesn't stack with any protection from the Good Sphere, but can you cast it on top of a bless, temporarily negating the bless, but at least benefiting from the Shroud?

Bless description:

This invocation stacks with either unarmoured or armoured dexterity but will not work in conjunction with any Evil invocation, such as Cloak of Ushaz.

A few things that the wording leaves ambiguous here:
'will not work' - temporarily stops functioning?

or

you literally cannot cast 'any Evil invocation' on top of it? In which case, where does the line get drawn - does that mean if you are running a Concealment, you are not protected by a Bless?
(am guessing the wording intended was 'any Evil invocation that gives you AC' but who knows!)

I hate to ask these sorts of questions, but this is a topic that is literally Life or Death!! If walking around bathed in evil invocations - stores & actives - means bless ain't gonna work full stop, I need to understand this now!

The way I've seen it played is that if you have a bless you can't cast a Shroud on yourself.

I think the "...will not work in conjunction with any Evil invocation..." is badly worded and is intended to only include similar, power ac boosting invocations as per the example.

Lady K should talk to the Chorian so she doesn't have to have a stinky bless for going to the PotSD.
I'm sure the Dreadlord could sort that out for you as well.

Shame he's nicked off and joined the Knights of our Dark Lady then

But yes, I agree with Adam. Having an active bless prevents you casting Cloak / Shroud on yourself and vice-versa... but not all evil invocations!

makes sense, cheers guys

any clues on whether "eyes of the seer" falls under evil sphere invocations prohibited by bless?

it's insufficient to count as spiritual protection and offers you glimpses of the future about people who are about to attack you, so kind of different from the pure PAC offered by cloak etc

and Adam yes, I can imagine the envelope:

Dreadlord Araikas
Voice of the Great Lord of the Dark, etc
Knights of Our Dark Lady
Somewhere on Orin Rakatha

I agree with Adam, if you ask the Chorien very nicely and/or pledge your eternal soul to him, he will protect you from embodying undead on the POTSD, leaving you free to walk around in a cloak/shroud of Ushaz.

I always thought bless/prot undead and any evil based PAC (including eyes of the seer) were utterly incompatible (ie shroud wouldn't work if you had chosen to accept a bless. Any other combination sounds rather against the spirit of the rules to me.

Hmm, pledge my eternal soul or die a number of times while bathed in the light of the Good Sphere... it's almost a tough call

All grist for rules clarifications

The way I'd adjudicate it is that if you have an Evil invocation running that provides AC it suppresses the Bless or vice versa depending on what the higher ranked invocation is - if the Bless was for longer duration than the evil AC then when the evil AC invocation runs out the Bless would cease being suppressed.

The suppression means that you get no benefit from the Bless at all - including the prevention of possession by undead
