TOPIC: An Opportunity To Serve On The King's Council
#1748
An Opportunity To Serve On The King's Council 8 Years, 7 Months ago Karma: 2
The King's Council has two vacant positions.

King Paullandiss wishes to fill these vacancies by popular nomination: one from the Army and one from the Commons.

Persons who have sworn fealty to the King are invited to nominate themselves or another (who has also sworn fealty) to join the King's Council and advise the King on matters pertaining to the Realm. Nominations should be sent to Duke Hanrow, either in reply here or to DukeHanrow@sectae.org.uk by the end of this month.

If more than one nomination is received from the Army or from the Commons then a ballot will be held to coincide with the forthcoming wedding of the King.

Please note that persons joining the King’s Council are required to renounce all Guild positions and other affiliations that may lead to a conflict of interest when serving as an advisor to the King.

Duke Hanrow.
King’s Advisor.

Thank you, Sir Kal.

Teppic Ulrikson, do you wish to accept this nomination?

Nothing against Sir Kal at all, but I think the King has enough advisors from the Order of St Michael. Personally I would like to see someone from Wolfhold or at least someone who represents the Evil Sphere to reflect a more balanced Council.

Not sure who from Wolfhold is a Kingsman, so don't know who I could nominate. So I suppose that failing a Wolfhold member, Teppic would be a good choice.

Perhaps if non-Kingsmen were allowed to stand, you'd have more people from Wolfhold to choose from...

I would nominate Sir Kal, of the St Michels and Quicksilver of the St Michels for their valor and their experience.

Leitha

I didn't realise that you & Quicksilver were sworn to the King...

Also can someone explain what this means? "one from the Army and one from the Commons."

What Army? And what is the Commons?

sorry we have to be sworn to the king to vote as well i thought it was just you had to be sworn to him to just be nominated. i also thought maybe they could make an exception as quicksilver is an officer in the kings own guild.

im not sworn im still thinking bout it im waiting till i am guilded for this.

Good questions.

I see I'm not the only one to worry about how this talk of 'the Army' has been introduced -- almost as if all those previously known as adventurers are now part of a military organisation (such as the Order of Saint Michel). But to my understanding 'The Army' does just refer to us adventurers... or, if preferred, Guildsmen.

'The Commons', which is also a somewhat new phrase, refers to non-adventurers (or those who are not part of the adventurer Guilds). Farmers, craftsmen, and so forth -- mainly those who working in the Sectors when on Orin Rakatha. I'm not sure I really like the word 'Commons'. I'd prefer 'People' or 'Craftspeople'.
