TOPIC: Otion Wraithchild
#2073
Otion Wraithchild 8 Years, 4 Months ago Karma: 26
I had been expecting others to declare this publicly, as it is an act that should command great attention.

The group led by High Priest Shard recently slew the Tower Leader of the Catacombs of Agoth, Otion Wraithchild.

The death of a Tower Leader so close to the Time of Reckoning should have some consequences, as the Status of the Tower will need to be pledged to a suitable candidate.

Prior to his death, it appears that Wraithchild was 'possessed' by the Dark Avatar, and was unable to communicate in a normal fashion. He was apparently directing orders through a long-standing supporter of his - a Black Sorcerer of the Catacombs, known as Tesseracton, who seems to have followed Wraithchild from before the Dymwan Wars - whom the group also slew.

An overdramatised version of events is already present in Shard's mission report.

Wraithchild had no chance, given (a) how exceptionally well-prepared I was by the group and (b) the fact that he was completely out-numbered.

It was just another task in the line of duty, achieved without any loss of life (as far as I recall). To make it out as anything more would be dishonest and unseemly.

The repercussions for the Catacombs of Agoth will be known very shortly, so there doesn't seem to be much point in speculating.

Perhaps you don't consider the sacrifice of those who died trying to remove his peices to be loss of life in the line of duty. I am sure Randolphin, Sir Severus, Nathan and all the others who fought their own personal duels or died to support the ritual to bind the avatar of light into you appreciate your sentiments. The defeat of Otion Wraithchild was more than just that meeting between the remaining peices of white and black.

You also seemingly fail to recognise the implications of Lady Kevralyns move at the end of the game that removed the remainder of his support during the "Last King Standing".

There is no point is speculating on activities in the field? Unless of course it morally offends you then you will ensure that you spend resources investigating the possibilities and discuss it at length in the tavern.

I do however appreciate the advice on my writing style, I shall ensure in the future that I phrase things more to your liking.

Now I must return to my work, Time is pressing.

Glad to get a rise out of you, Farsight! It was, however, perhaps a little too easy...

P.S. I also recognise very clearly the implications of Kevralyn's actions. That you appear to think they were for the good of the Alliance, and not for the Black Player (who clearly desired to lose the wager), only shows your naivete.

She's a priestess of Lolth! Out for herself! What else is the Evil Sphere about, if not that?!

And how fitting that you should commend an act of blatant treachery!

I like this Quicksilver; an arrogant self important Sorcerer who just spends his time trying to bait people and spreading wild accusations before later "seeing the light" and admitting he as wrong.

I would love to have more "honest" and annoying people like him in our Alliance. Keeps the Taverns buzzing.

Keep up the bickering, most entertaining.

Oh it's mutual, I assure you!

What can I say, I've always been a wild one... try as I might to resist it...

On second thoughts, maybe I should just apologise again.

This is the wrong place to raise personal grudges, and I have been giving in to my anger, hatred, and pride.

To be honest, I've been a little unstable recently. I'm not too proud to admit it.

Hmmm, perhaps you had best check yourself into the Hospital and let us look at you.

Must have been all that strain of being an "Avatar of Light" - you poor thing.

Take a seat behind the drunks will you and we will get to you.

Personal differences aside, perhaps it is worth briefly returning to the point:

Shard Farsight wrote:

But if we take 'slew' in this wider sense of 'defeat', it is just incorrect to say 'The group led by High Priest Shard recently slew the Tower Leader of the Catacombs of Agoth, Otion Wraithchild.' As you say, many outside that group played a part.

I think that explains quite clearly why I responded in the way that I did. To say we slew Wraithchild in the wide sense is obviously false. (So I assumed, being charitable, that Kevralyn didn't mean that.) To suggest that slaying him in the narrow sense (i.e. in the specific final fight) was especially praiseworthy is also false (but less obviously so). (And whether or not Kevralyn intended to suggest this, it might be read into her missive.)

In the end, all I am saying is that we shouldn't be given undue credit for something achieved by the Alliance of Light, the White Side of the Immortal Game, the members of our group, and members of other Alliance adventuring groups (who secured the stones necessary for the Ceremony of Light, for instance). I presume you agree.

My goodness what are you wittering on about? I agree that you are clearly unstable. The weight of responsibiity upon your shoulders must be immense, all these really important issues you feel "obliged" to bring to our attention. I am glad that I am merely an Acolyte and don't have to worry about this sort of important detail.

You killed someone important, well done, I am amazed that you are trying to examine this in great detail and see who should be thanked, perhaps you should thank your Mother and Father as well for bringing you into the world and making it possible? Ah just read some of your reports, perhaps you best not thank your parents.

I was having problems staying awake, I am feeling sleepy now.
