TOPIC: The Battle Against Agoth

The Battle Against Agoth 8 Years, 1 Month ago Karma: 26
I wish to announce that The Chorien and Anubis have been restored to their immortal forms as Avatars of Death, and that The Chorien now stands ready to assist the Kern Valley Alliance in our battle against Agoth.

I would like to thank the large and varied group who travelled to Murandir for their actions in ensuring that this end was achieved smoothly and successfully.

While I would like to credit each and every member of this group for their competence on the mission, I feel I should note that Wizardess Aruna's help with handling one of the ritual components was vital for us in achieving this goal.

While I echo your sentiments Sorceress Kevralyn, I have to admit some concerns about your intentions to hand over the key to the chaos vortex to a Drow house. Certainly it's proper place would be with the King?

Toshiro, de key has always been held by a drow house, all dat is happinin is dat it is moving from one to an uver. As an outsider it is de king dat is askin to do sufink dat is a change from de norm, in dat he wants to take de key from the rightful owners for his use an keepin.

I am a simple veteran but why not destroy the key if it leads to opening a portal filled with evil that can now do more damage than good why not destroy it somehow. or maybe cut it in 2 and give half to the king and half to the drow houses.

is it not a danger to us now and a hindrence rather than a help.

Toshiro.

Toshiro,

It is understandable if you are not familiar with this, but to date the guardianship of the Chaos Vortex has always been in Drow hands.

You also ask a reasonable question about my intentions and one that I imagine I might wonder about were I in your place.

Ironically enough, the Patriarch of House Valdurim raised his own concerns when he discovered that, within an hour of our obtaining the Key to the Vortex, we were already harnessing the powers of Chaos under orders of the King's Advisor with – at best – a limited understanding of what we were doing. To say that he regarded this behaviour as reckless would be an understatement.

To answer your question: sometimes, in the field, we come across information that causes us to re-evaluate our course of action.

You have seen the effect that the Chaos Vortex has had on individuals who have spent too long in its vicinity: they become so corrupted that they cannot recall anything of themselves, they are reduced to little more than base animals. I am informed that it is not an individual's "lawfulness" that guards against this corruption, rather it is strength of will. I hope that no-one would insult its prior caretakers by suggesting than others of a different racial disposition or spiritual inclination might possess a stronger will; I believe that nobody would wish to become such an abomination. Indeed from the little I have garnered about the Vortex, it is more likely to be harmful to those who are not of the Drow race.

I do not wish to see any members of the Alliance succumb to this Chaos corruption, be they Kingsman or otherwise.

The former guardians of the Vortex made it clear that they have amassed an wealth of knowledge pertaining to the Vortex over the decades that they have been its stewards. It was also apparent that, under certain circumstances, they might be prepared to share this knowledge.

If the Key had passed out of Drow hands there and then, you can be certain that years of valuable information would have been lost to the Alliance. At least we still currently retain the chance to obtain this knowledge, and therefore perhaps we can prevent more of our Alliance members from being afflicted by the Chaos taint.

It is my intention to do what I can to extract this information from Valdurim through various means and bring it into the Alliance.

As you may recall, not only was I in the chain of command on the Crusade: “the last Crusade for Law”, I negotiated on behalf of Wolfhold so that the King might be named by Senator Amadeus as he was then. It could also be said that I made some contributions in the recent Immortal Game to assist the White Side - whose player was King Paullandiss - against the Black Side. Thus I hope you can be assured, to some degree, of my proper intentions in these matters.

Hello all

U know whats more of an understatement how reckless those drow fellas came in for their meeting. swinging their weapons around like a bunch of fools. all they had to do was ask us to leave and i wouldve gone with a tankard of juice.

Now im done criping about our treatment.

As a kingsmen i would have confidence in the drow to look after the key responsibly due to the fact if the king has it and it goes off next to the king we have no more king so if the drow want to keep it let em so if anything happens they can deal with it. no offence lady kevrylin its just the fact that i prefer to have my liege alive so we can follow his rule and im sure you and your house are more than competent to deal with anything dangerous in that thing.

Thank you for the explanation Soulfire-san.

You have to understand that in my culture one's lord is the absolute power, even more so than in your Drow houses. For me there is no right and wrong, only the Lord's orders.

I appologize if you feel I was casting doubt on your allegience to the KVA, that was not my intention.
I share the patriarch's concern about our use of the key but it seems to be the way of life in the army that you often fix one problem and in the course of that create several others.

Domo arigato gosaimashita.
Onegai shimasu, Soulfire-san.

(thank you for the assistance and I look forward to adventuring with you again soon)
