Message to Those Taking the Fight To Agoth 8 Years ago Karma: 14
(OOC - This message is exclusively for those 14 party members taking part in the HQ within two weeks. If you are not on the party please do not comment. Ty - Bruce)

The battle against Agoth has reached a head and the time for victory or defeat against the greatest foe the Kern Valley has faced for several years is upon us. As the Agothian forces prepare for their final assault on the Kern Valley it is time for our own assault against the stronghold of Agoth.

Not since the Dymwan War has the Sphere of Necromancy upon Orin Rakatha been so strong; all Necromancers can cast Ritual power at vocal length, Undead are no longer weakened by daylight and Undead cannot be dismissed, controlled or banished upon Orin Rakatha. Skirmishes with Agothian or Necromantic forces continue to prove extremely troublesome. The Catacombs of Agoth seem determined to destroy the Kern Valley at whatever cost. Their former Tower Leader, the Vere known as Otion Wraithchild, has already set up two portals, one on Murandir and one on Thranduil and has promised to set up a third within the Kern Valley itself. We have learned that once this third portal has been established that Otion Wraithchild plans to perform a ritual known as “the Sundering”. This ritual is designed to strip a significant sized area of all life. It is believed that this ritual will be performed at All Hallows, when the Plane of the Sleepless Dead is closest to Orin Rakatha. Once the ritual of Sundering is complete it will open a portal to the Void which will seep through and engulf the entire Kern Valley, it is also believed that the effects will seep through the other two portals created by Otion Wraithchild and destroy the Halfway House and surrounding land on Thranduil and Kingsfort and a large part of the old Valley on Murandir. This must be stopped at all costs and has the full support of the King and all three Towers.

To aid us in our battle against Agoth and in an attempt to prevent the Ritual of Sundering we have recruited the aid of two Death Avatars, the Chorien and Anubis. As many know we have prior history with these Death Avatars and have helped each other in the past, more recently a group of valley adventurers helped them resume their immortal status after being made mortal by Agoth. A plan of attack has been formulated with the help of the Chorien and a high status valley adventuring group has been tasked to meet in the Aldonar tombs on the 23rd day of Leaf Fall Moon; you have been chosen as part of this elite group. Once within the Aldonar tombs you will be given your final briefings.

Essentially your task will be to travel to Agoth’s stronghold upon the Void and do all that you can to stop his aggression. In particular Otion Wraithchild must be stopped. In order to do so he must be made vulnerable and his power must be severed from the Void. This will entail a group accessing the Void and destroying his Soul Garden. To do this a group must journey to the Hall of Heroes, find out where his Soul Garden is and travel there from the Hall of Heroes to destroy it. The only way to access the Hall of Heroes is via the Realm of Battle, which in turn can only be accessed via other Realms on the Plane of the Sleepless Dead, namely that of Pain and Disease and Decay. The Chorien and Anubis will facilitate travel to the Plane of the Sleepless Dead.

Due to the importance of this mission it has personally been sponsored by the Stewards of both the White Retreat and Wolfhold.

I offer my full support to Sir Kal in leading this mission and encourage all others to do the same. Our strength lies both in our diversity and unity.

The importance of this mission is not lost upon me. I stand ready to take whatever action is needed to ensure our success.

Let us be bold in the face of Death.

I just want to register my concern about trusting a psychopathic mass murder, namely the Chorien.

Even if we 'succeed', who knows what it has in store for us?

I will admit that the Chorien does seem to be fairly arbitrary and ruthless but not moreso that many of the members of our Alliance.
(mind you, I wouldn't trust some of them either...)

We must succeed in this task, failure is not an option.

Toshiro.

One thing I wanted to check: has Sir Kal been appointed leader, or are you merely nominating him?

Hello, me again. Perhaps I can help. The Steward of the White Retreat requested that Sir Kal be given this task and as I understand it, the Steward of Wolfhold had no objections. They are both your sponsors, so I suppose this means that he should lead you, unless you have any objections Quicksilver?

Wolfhold supports and affirms this choice.

Unsurprisingly, I am not going to object to an order from the Steward. I also think that Sir Kal is a fine choice.

All I would say is that such decisions have typically been left to groups in the field, and that I am somewhat concerned about the precedent being set. As you may know, I am in favour of our devolving more power and decision-making downwards in our society.

Enough said. Let's get on with it!

I would have preferred to see Kevralyn in charge.
The Steward has spoken so be it.
