TOPIC: Metal Mask?

Metal Mask? 8 Years ago Karma: 6
Anyone got an idea where I could get a metal mask like the Leper King's from Kingdom of Heaven?

Would ask Norton Armouries but wouldn't be able to afford it. If not, I'll just get one of the white ones and do it up as if it is metal.

Thanks,
Chioma.

A very quick purusal of the Interwebs found this:

www.maskheaven.co.uk/Full%20Face%20Party...-Face-Mask_20218.htm

Adam/Toshiro was wearing a nice* mask on the HQ - you could ask him where he got his..?

Phil

Hi Chiomanri,

I would advise against a metal one, even if you can find one. It would heavy, uncomfortable and potentially dangerous if you were struck about the head.

I would look for a paper mache one (try Hobbycraft to see what is available, then look at cheaper craft stores to find a good price) and then paint it to look metalic. Spray paints intended for heavy outdoor use are good - hammerite do a chrome one which could then be aged using charcoal powder or an ink wash. Wilkinsons do a surprisingly good range of spray paints and laquers at a reasonable cost.

Once painted make sure you varnish it several times inside and out or it will gradually disintegrate with moisture - I know this from experience as my elven mage wore a mask for a while (it's an item).

Thanks Phil, I had been searching for direct replicas before but that looks surprisingly good.

Thanks for the advice Pat, if I failed to find a metal one I was going to go with one of the paper/fabric ones and paint it, think I'll just go with Phil's link now tho.

I had a paper-mache metal look mask as a character I played a couple of times... It seems like a good idea at the time, but trust me... you'll regret it after the first 3 hours-without-a-time-out-all-i-want-is-to-die moment...

Him Phantom-of-the-Reapers.

I've got a mission report featuring Nemesis somewhere. Random dungeon we did at Dimmingsdale years ago.

Nah, He's much older than Mr Panty-Head! It was many many years ago...

Yeah, I remember Run-With-Wolf being there! All I remember about the mission was Kalid Kalasthetics (Spelling?) and being murdered horribly at the end by a dark bolt...

Nemesis made his debut (and curtain call) in 2002.

That photo may well be from the November event (2nd appearance after Dimmingsdale?) where he played his drow reaper on a low level at Pwll Du.

Other people in attendance included Kal, Khortaz, Puke, Run with Wolf, Stickle...

I've just remembered the darkbolt too, you were blown to bits when I discerned you.

Now, where was I? Oh yes. That mask I was wearing is a plastic mask that I cut down to suit my purposes. It's not very strong so I strengthened it a bit but it still broke on the HQ and now needs repairs.

I'm currently investing getting one made by a guy who makes custom masks for airsoft out of (presumably) polyeurathane. Watch this space.

As already mentioned, masks are a pain. Mine's not too bad as it's only a lower face mask and is easy to remove. Wearing a full one all the time would get very annoying I imagine.

L8R,
Adam.
