The Canticles of Anathor

"Anathor - a dead human hero from the Shawanabee tribe (robber?)
There's a prophecy that he will return.
The canticles are scripts from ancient tombs put in books that explain different types of ceremonies including the control and summoning of a hepath of travel.
The canticles no longer exist as a whole but you can use a small piece.
117 fragments remain the largest fragment remaining is 11 inches high.
The hepath of travel has 3 parts
Halmadons Height have 1 part.
Gorgemoroth has some of them

"...The Kalid were using canticles to open portals.

"...The scribe Twilight (grey Warden) knew most about the Canticles we translated a large document together that we'd got from a traitor called Ramp and I think we later did a ceremony and summoned something red and firey if memory serves correctly."

Polo, in conversation with Kal, 21st of Leaf Fall, 11AR

"He (Paris)also tells me that some time before the mission their group had the opportunity to speak with Ar-Anwar Gerithan who summoned a Hepath of Knowledge who stated that there are 117 parts to the Canticles"

Liber Opifex

('The Book of Artisans/Craftsmen' -or- 'The Book of dreams')

Archive Note: Just as we appear to be on the edge of discovering much about the Liber Opifex it is now, in Cold Moon 11AR, almost certain to have been destroyed, along with its creator, Morphius.

"Morphius described the being he served as an Aspect of Knowledge. He was interested in learning about anything and everything. Once a mortal man, he died to gain further knowledge and 'lived' in the book. He said he came from a land where they only fought when the weather was good - I think this was not a jest. With regard to the 'wading through blood for 20 years' message, Morphius told me that was not his idea nor his preferred way of learning. I think he would have told us much more, given time, a pity he is lost."

Belas Knapp, eye-witness, Cold Moon, 11AR

"...it is my understanding that all those spirits which were bound up in the book were 'freed' upon its destruction. So it may well be that Morphius' spirit is also freed. As to whether that means he can be restored; that is another question.

"What concerns me most is that 'the One' has been freed, and that such a powerful entity may have been better confined. It remains, of course, to be seen.

"I cannot help but feel that we were misled by the Watcher; and I, for one, did not want to see the Book destroyed."

Quicksilver,eye-witness, Cold Moon, 11AR

"The Chronicler (Storyteller) was an invocation used by Morphius to "reap" the souls of those professing to seek the book, as far as my memories know there was no connection between the Watcher and the Storyteller. The suppositions I can draw from Shards memory of that time was the the Watcher found the book either due to tracing his gift to us (the amulet of non-detection, how ironic if this was the case) or by somehow tracing Mortimer Black hence his commendation."

Shard Farsight, conversation with Belas Knapp, Bone Moon, 11AR

Archive Note: It appears that seekers after the book are in turn sought by the book itself. There are rumours that the book can create mirror-images of people which it then uses for its own purposes. The symbol of the moon is associated with this book

"...an ancient book of knowledge... This book is guarded? personified? owned? by a creature called the Story-teller. It has the ability to steal spirit strength and store it within the book.

"The way to contact the Story-Teller appears to be simple. Make it known and obvious to a wide audience that you are seeking the book, and he seeks you out offering the choice to either give up the search, or be made to give up the search (resulting in Spirit Strength being ripped away). It is my belief that the Story-Teller is somehow a personification or spirit from the book itself as opposed to an entity as you or I would be considered such."

"...yes attempts have been made to fight the Story-teller (High Priest BoShek made a spirited attempt last summer, and suffered a huge number of Ritual invocations and High Magic Spells for his trouble) but he is a canny opponent who requires thought before engaging him (the key to defeating him may lie in the guardians that accompany him and people linked to the book,

but it has been some time since I pondered this, I wonder where my note book is?). The Storyteller appeared little affected by attacks upon his person by BoShek, but..."

"...The Story-Teller does not take Spirit strength if you forsake the search for the book (as I did, which seemed to surprise it, it certainly surprised me when he walked off with a "good night"). I believe that the taking of Spirit Strength links you too the book as Daedalus has mentioned, whether this is to encourage you to seek knowledge (if you want to see the ST as benevolent) or to provide him unwitting pawns... I favour the second reason."

Shard, recollections, Harvest Moon 10AR

"May I clarify some points, at least as I have seen them.

"First the nature of the book. It is called the Book of Dreams by some, the Book of Morphius by others. Its legend states that it has 101 pages, each of which holds its own story or dream taken from the minds of those it involves. It seems that the primary participants in these dreams are those who seek its secrets and have been sought by the physical manifestation of the book, that we call the Story Teller but which I believe is called the Chronicler by others, which attempts to steal their spirit strength to cement the connection.

"Second the nature of death and the book. When the spirit strength is drained by the Story Teller, a link is created to the book. The spirit strength is not so much lost as taken and placed elsewhere. It seems on what should be final death for someone who has this spirit strength taken by the book, instead of passing on, the book becomes involved..."

Daedalus, recollections, Harvest Moon 10AR

" It seems extremely ironic that those who seek the book actually become a part of it. They seek the knowledge bound within, but only BECAUSE they seek that knowledge does one of the pages become filled!? Correct me if I'm wrong, but I imagine that this 'game' must have started with an empty book, whose pages were filled by those who have sought it. This is perverse."

Quicksilver, Harvest Moon 10AR

Liber Septim

"Malvinious is no more*. He had managed to embody 11 undead into himself. We read his diary and he learned his trade at the Graveyard from a book called the Liber Septim..."

..."the Liber Septim, present in The Graveyard, is the Necromantic teaching book where people go to learn how to embody undead."

Balthazar, conversation with Cirith of the Sacred Swords, High Sun, 10AR

* "Malvinious of the Dymwan, Him killed by Group Amethyst ... although Dreams Him hear that Dymwan man now alive in Wolfhold."
