General
The Kalid own four towers: Tower of Day and Night; Tower of the Hunt; Tower of Thorns; The Shrouded Tower.
The locations of only two are known, both being located in the north-western corner of Orin Rakatha. One is close to Darklin Reach in the Shadow Dells, the other just north of the Matweed Breaks (Matted Brakes). It seems that there is one legion of true Kalid per Kalid tower.
"The 4th Trueblood are the Legion of least import of the Trueblood Legions, and the interface between all the Legions; they seem to test them all in various ways. It is only a year since we first met any of the Trueblood Legions, they seem to be taking a greater interest in this Plane and Orin Rakathan affairs of late. It is rumoured that they have recently established their own Court, similar to the one found within the White Retreat."
Kevralyn Soulfire, note to archive, 25th of Leaf Fall 11AR
"The Kalid are made up of a number of Legions: the trueblood Legions – where you will find the Nehem’Sen -, and the Cabiti (non-trueblood) Legions. Their “Office for Immigration” handles enquiries to form new Legions underneath the auspices of the Kalid, this includes those from other Planes. Those who join the Kalid are said to be allowed to ‘keep’ their existing cultures. Kalid policy includes that if those who are to be tested, or indeed those of the Kalid, are killed by the towerless, then the towerless can make a claim to join the Kalid by presenting the colours taken as proof. I believe that the tests which we were set are a reflection on the skills valued, according to each particular Legion of the Kalid."
Kevralyn soulfire, mission report, Hunting Moon, 11AR
"After a conversation with a Kalid of the 4th Legion I got the impression they have 4 Towers, the conversation was about the True Kalid and their Legions."
Verrick Acolyte of the White Path, Green Growing Moon, 10AR
"...true Kalid legions (ne'hem'sen) all have numbers. Other legions, made up from kabbiti (not True) have names..."
Hannah of the Hospitallers, Conversation with Kevralyn Soulfire, Wind Moon, 11AR
"Seeing as there was a Kalid person there we asked him about the Kalid. He said that he was in the Swordsworn Legion of the Valdemar and his tower was the Tower of Day and Night. Also he confirmed there were Kalid towers called Tower of the Hunt and Tower of Thorns. Apparently when the Valdemar had joined the Kalid they'd been allowed to keep their old culture and stuff. Also that asking how many Legions there are in the Valdemar is like asking how many guilds there are in the Alliance. Also that people from the Kalid don't introduce themselves by their tower names, but by their Legion names. Hopefully some of this is useful.
Mouse, mission report, Green Growing Moon, 11AR
Archive Note: Some legions do not like the activity of others and are happy to see them suffer set backs. Some of the Earthwarp are opposed to the Children of Brood. Legions vary in their levels of co-operation or hostility towards the Valley Alliance. The Kalid and the Valley people have been at war in the past. During the tensions with the Dymwan, and the subsequent war, the Kalid and the Valley people put aside their differences to fight the common foe of the Dymwan, although combat with the Kalid was known to occur. Since the end of the Dymwan war, encounters with the Kalid once again become tense, although no declaration of war has yet been announced.
Kalid strategy is to divide and conquer. There is evidence of their involvement in the fall of the towers of the River People (around 1AR), the Taranor (according to Quicksilver), and more recently Azad-An. Acclaim is accorded by strength. Two factions wishing to join the Kalid will often be obliged to fight each other with only the winner being accepted.

Colours - black/blue
Very military, protectors of the Reader merchants. Contain at least two factions - the 'Heralds' and the 'Swordsworn'
"Archive Note, 11AR ~ The Valdemar are the survivors of the fall of the Valdemar tower. From Luke's report it appears there were 4 families: Loschal (spelling obtained by Tom the Seeker), Gawfus, Kar'sal and Deveraux.
"I believe that the Valdemar Heralds and Valdemar Swordsworn are different Legions, not factions within one Legion. It is those of the Swordsworn who guard the Reader, the Heralds appear to deliver messages."
Kevralyn Soulfire, note to archive, 25th of Leaf Fall 11AR
"Swordsworn Legion ... formed up and issued us a martial challenge. Again, this group appeared to be fully human. We fought them and killed them all, save the leader who wished to report the result of this test. The Swordsworn group fought in a similar (save more organised) style to general Valley groups – with 2 healers at the back, and a line of warriors at the front who were all calling upon “the sword of evil” to channel lay evil power invocations through their Swords. They had also chosen a strategically-sound position from which to initiate the fight. I do not recall the use of any magic on their part."
Kevralyn Soulfire, mission report, Hunting Moon, 11AR
"4 people from the Valdemar were there with a Kalid. The first three families all said they'd pledge themselves to be their Kabbiti but the person from Gawfus said they wouldn't, so the Kalid person said the Gawfus people would never be True Kalid."
Elyssia, mission report, 13th of Green Growing, 11AR
Archive Note, 11AR ~ There is some tension between the Cabiti legions in this tower.
Colours: Dirty green, brown and grey
First encountered by the Valley in 10AR. The Children of Brood are cross-breeding animals and intelligent races, blending them into hybrids and testing them in combat, as shown in a captured letter. They also have some affinity with the sphere of nature.
"I specifically asked the question relating to the Earthwarp and the Children of the Brood. Apparently the difference is that the Earthwarp's interests lie with flora, whereas the Brood's interests lie with fauna. They are as separate as the Legions of Valdemar and Crimson Feast, in my opinion."

"I note that there is a request for explaning the notes left by the mage Plays-with-Fire.
"I believe he has effectively written as follows:
"Children of the Brood are a Kalid Legion, and druids who do not operate according to nature's intentions (according to our druid Bella Rossi). They create many half-breeds such as half-orc, half-wolf. On one mission they invited us to join "the hunt", whereby they tested such creations. Additionally, this Legion captures non-humans from other Towers, trying to cross-breed them in their laboratories, so to make an army of tough creatures.
While on this mission, PWF also met a goblin Seer of the COTB, who had a number of visions. This included one in which a large shook of hordelings arose and overran all including Orin Rakatha.
The Broodmaster that they encountered (and killed) had many items that allowed him to cast Black Magic, and many of the Legion were able to goad the party with fear, calling upon nature to do so, although this effect only lasted a few seconds."
Eymeric'Dir Kevralyn Soulfire, note to archive, 3rd of Leaf Fall, 11AR"
Colours - blue/light blue
Fanatics, many are lycanthropes, battlecry of 'blood for the feast'. The Crimson Hearts are the elite warrior faction.
Colours - These Kalid also wear the Blue and Light Blue like the Crimson Feast.
"They claim to be Beast Masters / Masters of the Feast and seem to control the Feast in some manner. Members of the Martok and the Feast will often be found together."
Shard, Planting Moon, 10AR
Archive Note: Virtually nothing is known of this legion.
"He (The Raven Kabooti) was there in an observatory capacity; he said that the Kalid had taught his Legion many things, including speech."
Kevralyn soulfire, mission report, Hunting Moon, 11AR
Earthwarp has at least three sect: Voice of Thunder; Pulse; Choking Vine. There is some rivalry between these sects.
"Jezra Hun'ett is not the leader of the Kalid Earthwarp Pulse Sect. Neither is Rollu, who has now taken his place within this Sect, his work in liberating the Mor Silvani now complete."
Kevralyn Soulfire, note to the Archive, 16th of Leaf Fall, 11AR
Archive Note: Pulse Sect have been involved in the plane of Chi-Chen during 10AR, co-operating with former inhabitents of the Tower of the Sun, and the Shadow Lodge. This is interesting as, by reputation, the Tower of the Sun was strongly opposed to evil.
"...Pulse Sect are (were - Arch.) lead by a Drow from the Forest of Unshed Tears by the name of Jezra Soulshriever, a wielder of Necromancy and Nature, it is possible that the Pulse teachings may begin to reflect this style of leadership and racial make-up as our group assisted many of Jezras people to flee the forest to Orin Rakatha where they may have joined with him in the Pulse sect. I cannot recall the other Earthwarp sects however one group that I have encountered claimed mastery over the earth itself while another wielded druidic sphere and evil sphere in great quantities."
Shard, Planting Moon, 10AR
Archive Note: It is now known that several hundred Mor-Silvani have joined the Kalid.
"Jezerah Hunnett the Soul Shriever, Heirophant of the Earthwarp works in co-operation with Rolu in the Forest of Unshed Tears, where he is First of the Mor-Silvani."
Belas Knapp, High Sun, 9AR
Archive Note: Steelwind appear to be strongly honourable, upto and including ritual suicide to atone for failure, The legion is divided into at least two factions, the Ministries of the Left and Right, each led by a 'Sama'. One faction of the Ministry of the Right is the Swords of Honour. Within the Ministry of the Left are 'Own'ee', Spirit Lords holding great power. Magic weilders, the 'Baka mano punchew' are often Ogre magi. All this information is gratefully taken from the recent mission report of Elyssia the Humact, sometimes known as 'Mouse'. There is some suggestion that Steelwind is changing, abandoning its traditional ways. Steelwind believe the use of a shield is dishonourable, and prefer the use of 2 swords.
"Although the Steelwind are of equilibrium with left and right, the ministries are not in direct opposition and often work together. The Ministry of the Left tend to follow a more spiritual path and the Right a more martial path. The Ministry of the Right hold the beaurocratic reigns of power and the Ministry of the Left a more political power."
Mouse, eye-witness, Turning Moon, 10AR
"This legion appears to be made up of almost Hordling types (similar races to the Half-Orcs prevelant in the Valley perhaps). The Captain we encountered was something akin to an Ogre Magi whose men (troll and orc types) claimed was immortal, and indeed he regenerated most swiftly, even from the wounds dealt by a mighty empowered weapon. They seem to be both Lawful and Honourable."
Shard, eye-witness, Cold Moon, 10AR
"To my knowledge encountered only once, during the founding of Spirior. Initially agressive, as the suspected us of assasinating a Steelwind General but calmed down later."
Belas Knapp, eye-witness Cold Moon, 10AR
"I am informed that Dothloadass, Disciples of the Higher League of Archaic Devotion and Stygian Skills, contain Necromancers among their ranks and are thought to have been the ones who created the fetches used by the Steelwind Legion on our mission at All Hallows."
Kevralyn Soulfire, note to archive, 25th of Leaf Fall 11AR
Until the Time of Reckoning 11AR, the Shrouded Tower also possessed a Legion named the Shadow Lords. This Legion has since left the Kalid, and joined together with the Mor Silvani and former House Dranath to form a new Tower named the Shadow Keep.
Kevralyn Soulfire, note, Snow Moon 11AR
Colours - normal Kalid blue-black with red and green trimmings
"I believe that their Legion Commander is General Athlung Halle, named Hero of the Shrouded Tower."
Kevralyn Soulfire, note to the Archive, 16th of Leaf Fall, 11AR
"...the legion recently formed by Athlung Halle ... the Shukram Albari struck with the blows of seven men and the soulless ones did not seem to feel pain."
Kal, mission report, early Harvest, 11AR

Colours - Black, purple and white with a sun motif.
" It has been reported from several Valley Sources, including notable heroes, that the Kalid have recently gained a new legion from an off-plane source. This new legion seems to be made up of an order of monks connected to the Denetharian Empire. Known to use Ki, the Evil Sphere and the Neutral Sphere, perhaps the most unusual aspect of the group is their disregard of their own lives. Members of the order wear amulets that they trigger upon their approaching death. These amulets kill the monk permanently and produce the effect of various evil invocations upon all within a sphere around them."
