Colours - guards wear purple, mages wear their college colour.

"Perhaps you might wish to make a list of the Deans (leaders) of the different colleges. For a start, we have:

Zeno, Dean of the College of Spatial Correspondence, Collegium Magica
Arichpaelo, Dean of the Blue College
Ranga-fel, Acting Dean of the White College

"I have also heard the name of Arkreem, Pyromancer Lord of the Wizards Concillium, and possibly Dean of the Red College"

Kevralyn Soulfire, note to archive, 25th of Leaf Fall 11AR

"...the Collegiate Elementa is the Western Tower of the Wizards Concillium, and the Collegium Magica is the Eastern Tower.

"The 'Garden of Elements' is a waystation owned by the Concillium near the Central Lake, although it seems that the Concillium have come to an arrangement with the Reader over the use of this waystation."

Kevralyn soulfire, note to archive, 16th of Leaf Fall, 11AR

"This society controls two towers, located close to the Central Lake (on which the Mystics are rumoured to dwell), in the Dragur Forest. One is north-west of the Isle, the other east. They are split into Nine Colleges of Magic: Red, Blue, Brown, Green, White, Black, Grey, Yellow, and Purple.

"Each College has its own ruling Dean, and own political stance toward other Towers/groups; usually, their Towers remain officially neutral with all others. Although the composition of the Eastern Tower is unknown, it is known that the Purple College is based in the Western Tower, and it is often assumed that its Dean is the Keyholder.

"Traditionally, the Concillium was responsible for all teaching of magic on Orin Rakatha, and any sorcerer trained therein was (and still is) asked to swear his/her status to it. Thus, the arrival of the Valley Alliance on Orin Rakatha caused many within the Concillium great concern.. Sorcerer Arkreen, of their Red College, was responsible for a series of offensive strikes on Alliance holdings, which culminated in the destruction of the only joint Reader-Alliance trading post. He was also involved in the kidnapping of several Alliance sorcerers, including Giles and Quicksilver, in an attempt to 'persuade' Helios the Luminary to defect to the Concillium. Needless to say, this attempt failed.

"Subsequent to this unfortunate event, the Cabal declared that the Alliance Schools of Magic would not teach to any individuals who were not members of the Alliance. This promise, along with the co-operation of the Alliance and the Wizard's Concillium during the Dymwan Wars, has led to a more peaceful relationship between our Towers and theirs. In celebration of the end of the Dymwan War, training in purple magic was offered to two members of the Alliance, namely Giles and Quicksilver; they are believed to be the only Purple Magi within the Alliance."

Purple Magic

"Purple magic involves the combination of all the standard Colours of magic in order to create unique spells of unusual potency. (One well-known example is the level ten spell commonly known as 'Anti-Magic Shell'.) Any more information about it is guarded jealously by the Concillium, and all its practitioners are sworn to secrecy about its finer details."
