Silverwood Scout Campsite is found nestling in the foothills of the Pennines, betwixt the picturesque villages of Silkstone and Dodworth, and is situated only 3 km (1.5 mile) west of Junction 37 of the M1. Close to amenities, yet in a remote location, the site consists of 10 acres of camping area, a purpose built 42 person accommodation block with a modern toilet & shower block adjoining 100 acres of woodland, with good views of the Pennines and the surrounding countryside.

Silverwood Lodge is a single storey self-contained brick building, used as a indoor base.

It has a large activity room with tables and chairs separate kitchen with 6 ring gas range, double sink, large fridge/freezer. Cooking utensils are provided with crockery and cutlery for 50 people.

There is also the Billingham Activity Centre, which has a kitchen and one large room. It is typicality used as a monster base
